SAIE

사이

The space between.

Logline

In 1995 Arizona, a Korean-American teen caught between his immigrant father’s expectations and a forbidden love with a Mormon girl that neither family would accept, must decide whether to conform, assimilate, or walk away and become something neither can control.

First love is not the solution. It’s the mirror. Adam and Ellie don’t save each other. They show each other who they already are.

Director’s Statement

“SAIE is the film I wish I had when I was 17. It’s about being split between two identities, two cultures, and trying to find your voice in the silence between. I want audiences to feel like they’re watching someone else’s home video and somehow, seeing their own life in it.”
